THE CROOKED QUARTER shop with us

The land to this building was purchased in 1892 to Valentine Hosch, who built the frame of the building, then selling it to his brother Anton Hosch in 1907. The building was then called Hosch's Tavern. in the back, was the livery (Crooked Quarter), used for Hosch's horses and boarding. The livery was then turned into a black smiths shop, and then an auto mechanics garage.

When Anton passed away in 1938, leaving the tavern and livery to his 4 children, who in turn rented out the tavern to a man, calling it Holters Tavern.

Tony, Anton's son, purchased his siblings shares in 1940 and operated Hosch's Tavern. His son Clayton became a partner with him in 1948-1951, when Clayton entered the Air Force.

Tony then, contacted his daughter Delores and husband Henry Becker, who purchased and ran the bar as Beckers Tavern and used the livery for storage. Henry was killed in an automobile accident in 1958. Delores brother helped her run the bar until she met Myron Burmaster in 1959. Keeping the property in the Hosch family until they retired in 1994. Selling the property to Richard Schulze. He had a very successful business, changing the name to The Ranch. 

The livery was falling apart, cement caving in , bricks falling out of the wall. It bacame a home for the pigeons. Ha,ha

Richard passed away in 2017, leaving the building empty for 5 years.
